Building A Better World Since 1940

For over 85 years, Stelton Lumber Co. has been built on something simple: quality materials, honest pricing, and service that actually feels personal.

We work with contractors, property managers, and builders of all scales — bringing the same care and attention to detail to every order. We take pride in offering some of the best pricing in the area on premium moulding, backed by expert knowledge, custom sourcing, and quick turnarounds that keep your jobs moving.

That's what a multigenerational family business delivers — and it's what we've built our name on.

1940s — Where It All Began
It started with a simple belief: treat people right, and the rest will follow. Italian immigrant Carmen James Perrone purchased a small lumber yard in Piscataway and built it by hand—earning trust one customer at a time through honest work, fair deals, and a handshake you could count on.

1960s–1970s — Laying the Foundation
His son Joseph carried that spirit forward with quiet determination. He expanded the yard and deepened its roots in the community, becoming a steady, dependable presence for builders across Central New Jersey. For many, Stelton Lumber wasn’t just a supplier—it was someone you could rely on.

1980s–2000s — A New Energy
When Carmen Julius Perrone returned to the business, he brought a thoughtful balance of tradition and progress. With a background in education and a natural understanding of people, he strengthened relationships, modernized operations, and made sure every customer still felt known, valued, and taken care of.

2008 — Holding the Line
When the Great Recession arrived, it tested everyone. We met that moment the same way we always have—by standing firm in our values. We focused on quality, stayed close to our customers, and did whatever it took to help them keep moving forward.

Today — Still Family. Still Here.
More than 85 years later, Stelton Lumber remains family-run and deeply rooted in the community it has always served. Generations have come through our yard—some as customers, some as friends—but all treated with the same care and respect that started it all.

We’re proud of what we’ve built together, and even prouder to keep building alongside you.
